Our team currently has 21 registered athletes ranging from 6th to 12th grade from schools in Aztec, Farmington, Bloomfield, and several students who are homeschooled. We are open to all students, male and female in the four corners area since we are the on SCTP team in the region. Regardless of school affiliation we all shoot as Tigers to keep the focus on team unity.
Our team is part of the larger New Mexico program known as the New Mexico High school Clar Target Association (NMHSCTA) which has grown to roughly 180 student athletes statewide from communities all of NM since its inception 9 year ago.
Our state program is part of a much larger national program, the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) with thousands of athletes across all 50 states. The focus of the program is Academics, Integrity and Marksmanship and we strive to prepare our athletes for the futures while giving them a fun activity in the outdoors. We also share affiliation with the ATA/AIM, NSSF, and NSCA programs and our athletes can gain registered targets within all the NGO's associated with our sport.
This is an all-inclusive sport in which any youth can participate including those with physical disabilities. Athletes in the sport can end up continuing at the collegiate level with scholarships to many universities in the United States as well. These scholarships are much more attainable than traditional sports scholarships and allow our athletes to continue their education beyond high school at a discounted rate while remaining active in their chosen sport.
